What is more convenient a smart card or 7 day short trip pass to go to DC?
I wll start commuting from Greenbelt Md to Washington DC five times a week. What is the best way to make this commute the least expensive? A 7 day short trip pass or by using a smart card? Thank you for your answers.
A short trip pass will not get you from Greenbelt to downtown – it is capped at $2.65 per trip. You’ll have to figure out for yourself (depending on your destination downtown) whether it is cheaper to get a 7 day unlimited use pass or not.
If you are driving you will at least need a SmartTrip card to pay for parking.
A lot of employers in D.C. offer transit benefits. I would find out if yours is one of them. Commuting costs can really add up!
